Like the bride’s dress and bouquet (and how elegantly the venue is dressed of course), one other thing above most others will be remarked upon by most of your guests… the cake. This will no doubt come sharply into focus for everyone when the time comes for the newly wed’s to follow tradition by cutting the cake and sharing it with their friends and family, an act dating back to Roman times, meant to bring good fortune, fertility and prosperity.
Your photographer and probably many of your guests will capture images of you cutting the cake. Therefore, it not only needs to taste good, it needs to look stunning, too!
There are lots of things to consider when choosing the style of wedding cake, like:
One thing’s for sure, you should visit a number of cake makers well in advance of the big day to view their designs and sample their products. The best cake makers get booked up early, so don’t be shy about visiting them as soon as possible during the planning stages of your wedding. A good place to start is at wedding fayres, as these are informal gatherings away from the day-to-day hustle and bustle of busy bakeries. See our ‘Wedding Fayres’ pages about our forthcoming events in the local (Staffordshire) area.
Eventi Eleganti has worked closely with a number of cake makers over the past ten years. However, we recommend Cupcake Queens and Kathryn’s Homemade Cakes. Lots of useful information and typical cake prices can be found on their website, which you can find a link to on our ‘Links‘ page, under the ‘Services‘ tab.
